Please describe your blog
this blog is about art from a personal, often philosophical perspective. it addresses any subject that i consider interesting and relevant to art. inspiring artists and art works come to the fore, but also critical thinking on the modern art world, and the role of art in society. some own work is shown, but not predominantly.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
i'm trying to provide a platform for independent thinking about visual art. the modern art world tends to be driven by buzz and fashion, drowning out the slower more philosophical approach.
also, the primacy of visual artists as experts in the field should, i believe, be reestablished. art critics, curators, art historians, gallery owners, museum directors, rich collectors: they all proclaim themselves expert, pulling the strings and pushing visual artists in a secondary position.
so part of the objective of this blog is to provide a counterweight, and to show that an individual visual artist not only knows how to create but can also put art in a broader perspective, with the added benefit of personal creationary experience.
finally, i hope to encourage other independent artists and thinkers. this category is often unsuccessful in modern terms, because independence excludes the adaptation to all the blabla and the networking circus, which is necessary to achieve recognition as an artist nowadays.
however, most art which i consider really profound, moving, worthwile, comes from independent artists. which is why i would like to give some support to others who struggle with their independence.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
no. i have banned all advertising, and even do not link back to directories, since i wish to maintain a pure blog, independent.
