What is the name of your Blog?Drinking Liberally in New Milford
What is your name?
Connecticut Man1
Where are you from? (include country, state and/or city)
New Milford, Connecticut, USA
Please describe your blog
News and opinions from the only blogger guaranteed to be plastered all over the internet. Drinking Liberally in New Milford was the direct result of the hangover resulting from the 2004 elections.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
Trying to refocus the publics attention on the problems that have resulted because of the right wing politics in Washington that is not tempered enough by any liberal views for social issues. Essentially, I am doing my part to move the Overton Window back to the center where it should be for a healthy Democracy.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
Blogger. Easy. Cheap (Can't get any cheaper than free, unless you want to pay me?) Functionality. Also, since it is owned by Google you are certain to come up on their searches.
What do you blog the most about?
Politics on the national and local (Connecticut) level.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Blogs with long questionnaires. :) Blogs that write about politics from a fantasy point of view. I don't mind real, honest conservative points of views (Ballon Juice, Andrew Sullivan, etc.) because you can actually debate with those people. But the Malkin type POVs that blatantly disregard the truth in their propaganda? What is there to argue or debate about when one side loses by opening their mouths spewing lies and hate?
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Link. Be honest. Link generously. Be prepared to be proven wrong on occasion. LINK DAMNIT!
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I never put anything up concerning my personal life, or my family, in any political argument. I may post the occasional thing on my family, but never in relation to a political argument.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
Nope and nope(is anyone EVER making enough money?) If you are Blogging on politics and making money at it then you are to be viewed as in the pockets of who ever is paying you. (IMHO)
How long have you been blogging?
The end of 2004 on one Blog or another...
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
4 hours. Give or take.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
I do track about 60 of them... But I tend to go directly to my favorite sites for the info, so I don't have an RSS reader open 24/7 like some Bloggers.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
Yes. To help promote important stories.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Nope
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Participating in other Blogs. Dropping the occasional link in comments. Finding the occasional important story and writing on it is the one that works best for myself since, even though I don't have a huge readership, I do count several prominent Bloggers among my regulars.
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
Mine. Because it is mine and nobody else can ever second guess what I write about.
