Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I blog to share my unique and often humorous point of view and expertise, to gain exposure for myself, my company and my endeavors, and to utilize my Journalism degree lol.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
Blogger. I had issues with my website but also dabbled in Wordpress and Movable Type. All were great, but Blogger is very easy to use and fast.
What do you blog the most about?
Pop culture-fashion, music, art, you name it.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Blogs that pick apart celebs and other people. The light-hearted ones aren't that bad, but some are downright brutal.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1. Write in your own unique voice. We've heard it all, but it's different coming from you, in your words and style. Besides, people like to feel they are getting tidbits from a friend, so writing how you would talk (to a degree) makes it more personal. 2. Use pics. Too much text is boring and pics really highlight and support what you are talking about. 3. Post regularly. People will get bored and not check back if you take forever to post new content. 4. Check out your competition. Great for information on templates, advertisers, what's new, etc. Gives you some inspiration for improving your own blog. 5. Promote your blog. Sign up for email updates for subscribers, get subscribers in the first place and promote, promote, promote. People won't read your blog if they've never heard of it.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
Intimate details or negative gossip about someone else's life. Wouldn't write much about positive gossip either.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
No, but getting an income on a blog would be an added bonus.
How long have you been blogging?
I've written online columns and have freelanced for cell phone services before, as well as writing several online and print articles, but this is my first official blog.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
Well, writing the actual text takes only a few minutes, but researching the topic, finding the pictures, etc., is an ongoing process that I do throughout the day when I have free time.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
No, but it seems like an efficient way to keep track of your favorite sites/blogs.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
No. Just started my blog.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
No. Just started my blog.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Word of mouth is always great, plus email newsletters/updates, posts in online communities, etc. Anything you do helps!!!
