Please describe your blog

My blog has been the home of my poetry and writing on the web since 2001. It's gone through a lot of changes since then, and unfortunately most of the older entries got phased out when I moved from one location to another. It's kept the same spirit though, and has only gotten better with time!

Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?

I'm out to prove that there is a market for good poetry, and that people still enjoy the art of stringing words together to express emotions. In the future I hope to teach others how to write creatively, poetry specifically! So many people have expressed to me that they wish they could write poetry, and I'd love to be the one to show them how.

What blogging platform do you do and why?

Right now I'm using Blogger.com because it's so easy to manage. No hassle, very quick, great interface. I really love it.

What do you blog the most about?

I blog a lot about my life and the day to day emotions that I experience. That's balanced out with brand new poems every week, and soon there will be music as well!

What kind of blogs make you angry?

I dislike anything that's filled with hate. I can't understand why someone would waste their passion on spreading negativity. If you've got something valid to protest, then I'm with you all the way--but just hating other people for no good reason is scary to me!

Give five of your best blogging tips.

Use spellcheck! Learn the art of punctuation. Pour those thoughts into neat paragraphs! Don't shy away from personal feelings, but don't go into "too much information" territory either! And finally, don't be ashamed to promote yourself--if you've got something good to say, it's worth spreading the word!

What are some things you would NEVER blog about?

Never say never!

Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?

I didn't start for that reason, and I still don't do it for that reason--this blog is dedicated to my art, my creativity, my expression, my poetry... I do however run some other informational blogs with the express intent of making money, but it's too soon to tell if those new ventures will work out!

How long have you been blogging?

Since 2001! I called them "letters" back then! I didn't even know what a blog was.

About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?

On the days that I blog, I typically spend about an hour writing, tweaking, proofreading, and making it perfect!

Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?

I track some RSS feeds on top of my Gmail each day, staying up to date on celebrity gossip and things like that, just for fun! Maybe ten or fifteen max.

Do you use Digg, and why or why not?

I haven't used it yet, but I might!

Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?

I've never heard of this one, sorry!

What promotional techniques work best for you and why?

Submitting to blog directories has been tremendously helpful. Networking with other writers and poets always works. At the end of the day there's nothing better than keeping your blog updated at least several times per week. A dead site is the worst promotion in the world.

If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?

There's no blog I'd rather post on than my own! It's the best in the world, didn't you know that? ;)

What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?

Not posting often enough, not promoting my blog enough, not keeping in constant touch with my mailing list subscribers... You've got to keep it all alive on a consistent basis.

What are your top five blogging site picks and why?

I'm more of a blog writer than a blog reader, but I do keep up to date on a few celebrity blogs and fitness blogs.

Have you met anyone offline as a result of your blog?

Actually yes I have, and it's always been a great experience!

Do you think you'll be blogging about the same things 10 years from now?

Actually I think I will, but hopefully I'll be wiser and stronger, asking better and better questions of myself, and really finding the answers! I'll definitely still be posting new poems and I'll probably have a dozen poetry books out by that point. Mark my words!
