Please describe your blog

My blog contains personal development, self-improvement and confidence tips and advice.

Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?

To challenge people's thinking and encourage self empowerment for my readers.

What blogging platform do you do and why?

WordPress - I find it the most flexible for my needs. I host the blog on my company site and find WordPress the quickest and easiest to update my blog.

What do you blog the most about?

My thoughts, things that happen that make me think and other ideas and inspirations that I have.

What kind of blogs make you angry?

I have never encountered a blog that I have reacted angrily to. I genuinely believe that people have a right to write, think and be any way they wish to be.

Give five of your best blogging tips.

1. Read as much as you can on the net and in books 2. Learn how to optimise your blog for the search engines, then keep learning. 3. Host your blog on your company site if you are looking to boost traffic and create a community. 4. Find the right platform - I wish I'd played with a few before settling for my current one as it's been a pain to convert and retain all my settings and details. 5. Read some more - you can never learn enough!

What are some things you would NEVER blog about?

Politics or Religion.

Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?

No, I started blogging to find out what I had to say! Making money from my blog is not something I currently seek to do - it generates traffic for my main site which is a nice bonus.

How long have you been blogging?

Since June 2007

About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?

Reading blogs - about 1 hour or so every day. Writing blogs - about 3 hours per week.

Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?

Yes, not many only around 5 or 6 - other sites I bookmark and visit now and again.

Do you use Digg, and why or why not?

I've not really started looking into Digg, I will now!

Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?

Yes I Stumble. I find it really useful and enjoy recommending sites that interest me.

What promotional techniques work best for you and why?

The occasional Stumble of my blog usually results in a spike in traffic.

What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?

Converting Blogger to WordPress was a pain. I wish I'd tried out all the main platforms before starting to preserve my data.
