Please describe your blog
My personal views on things happening, locally and globally. I love to especially comment the current news and the political landscape that continues to shape our way of life, including social issues. I enjoy to rant on things that bother me, from a personal level that most people may relate to.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I do not expect to capture an audience. Writing on my blog allows me to express my opinions to a forum. If people read it and give me feedback, all the better. Furthermore, when I write, I often learn something, especially if I am writing about myself.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use WordPress. It is easy to install and modify for my liking, and it has been reliable so far.
What do you blog the most about?
Political and social issues, but I also enjoy writing about stories that interest me, from technology and science, to commenting on stupid commercials or their products.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
One-sided political blogs that have an agenda. They are often filled with such hate. I also hate it when people write about someone or say something that they would never say in-person. Basically, I hate it when someone hides behind a computer, willing to say anything without any accountability.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Stay current and active; stay true to yourself, don't write to please someone or a group of people; be open-minded and consider all sides when taking a stance; don't be hateful about someone, especially if you are writing something that you would not be willing to say to that person's face; exchange links with other active blogs
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I have never come across anything that I am not willing to blog about.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
I have never made one penny off my blog. It doesn't mean I wouldn't pursue placing any advertising in the future.
How long have you been blogging?
My current blog goes back a few months. I have been blogging since 2003, but unfortunately I have lost more posts than I have saved.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
I don't blog on a daily basis, due to time. I probably spend about an hour a week total, writing and editing for the blog.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
I do not track RSS feeds.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
I do not use Digg. Seems complicated and I haven't been willing to devote the time to understand or implement it.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Never heard of it.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
I have tried to optimize it for search engines, and I often post my entries onto Facebook notes.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Don't blog about anything work related, because you never know who might find your blog. I, fortunately, have never blogged anything negative about my place of employment (post-college). Also, never post anything you would not want a future employer to see (i.e. you submit a resume and they Google search you and find your blog).
