Please give us a short summary of your blog.
A fun site about a Trini's life in Trinidad & Tobago sharing her experiences and adventures. Lots of pictures.
What inspired you to launch your own blog?
Needed a hobby and wanted to share something meaningful with the world. This seemed like a good choice.
When did you launch your first blog, and what was it?
I launched jijineko.blogspot.com November 24, 2008 about Trinidad Life and other topics such as my pets but then made this site on Wordpress solely for my Trinidad related posts.
How did you decide on a name for your blog?
I decided to blog about the something I know about and that I'm surrounded in... I have extensive knowledge about my home country which is a tourist destination so there was nothing better to blog about!
What makes your blog different from other, similar offerings?
My style of writing is witty and I try to think of my readers as persons instead of just popularity meters. I want to share my experiences as a local since it will be more sincere and real than a person who has just visited. Tourists get the best service and treatment in T&T so I hope my site will show how T&T REALLY is on a daily basis.
What is your eventual goal? (To secure a book or other mainstream media deal?)o sell it, keep it for income, se
I would like to eventually visit many hotels and restaurants and give an informative review of each on my site.
How does your investment of time and money balance against your success?
It's too early to tell! But considering that I didn't pay for the site, I have received great feedback from those who have visited me. :) It is VERY time consuming though, but I enjoy it.
If you had an unlimited development budget for development, how would you change your site?
I would just buy a domain name and change the format so it won't be a blog only anymore.
If your blog got really big, really quickly, would you be able to keep up with the demand?
Yes! Definitely! Oh how I wish for that day!
What has been your biggest challenge?
I wrote too much content in the first week in my excitement and then ran out of things to write the second week. But I have a steady pace of about 2x per week now.
What method has been most successful for promoting your blog?
Visiting other people's blogs and asking them to do the same.
How has running your blog differed from your expectations?
I wasn't expecting it to be so hard to draw visitors!
How long will you continue to keep up running your blog if you don't enjoy big gains in traffic, income or popularity?
I will still do it for my handful of readers. They make me so happy and I'm delighted that I can help and entertain them. <3
