Kilmarnock, Scotland

Please describe your blog
I use my blog to empty my mind of all the ramblings and formulate some of my thoughts on life, yoga and philosophy.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
Yoga is a very introspective process, and is often one step forward then two back, so it helps to record my thoughts on subjects and be able ot review them. I hope eventually it will also bring people in to my yoga classes. I also enjoy writing and am told I have a talent, but have no discipline so am trying to write every day (garbage or not) just to get into that habit.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
Blogger - it just seemed the best at the time and now it is what I am used to using.
What do you blog the most about?
I tend to starty with a concept that's been on my mind, such as anger or commitment or suchlike. I then look up some quotes, some other ideas on that concept and use one that I feel sums up my own approach. I then spill out my own thoughts on the matter and try to find a practical approach where possible.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Hmmm... I dunno, probably racist blogs would but never really searched for that kind of blog so never found one. I wouldn't say it makes me angry but I am generally unimpressed by people who clearly don't have a clue about the subject they are writing about.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1. Write, write, write 2. Read, read, read 3. If your muse has left you, just sit down and write anything to keep the discipline 4. Draw inspiration from your life 5. Be your Self
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
Anything I would consider boring
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
No, I started my first blog as I began planning a trip to India and had a whole lot of questions on things like visas, vaccinations, etc. I decided to pool the things I learned in that blog. Then when I left my (great) job ot teach Yoga full-time I decided to blog about my thoughts on life (which is what Yoga is all about) and eventually incorporated the two. I guess it would be nice ot make some money from it, but I enjoy it anyway so that's not the big aim.
How long have you been blogging?
Almost five years
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
Probably about 1 or 2.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
No
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
No, don't know what it is (LOL prolly should)
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
No, don't know what it is (LOL prolly should)
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Just in the process of finding that out... I have to hope that high quality writing is a big part...
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
I never thought of posting on anyone else's blog, what a good idea. Probably Yoga Journal's blog, out of vanity and wanting to feel important most likely hehe
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Don't marry the wrong woman, it leaves you poor and bitter - oh you mean for blogging?! Ummm... don't allow unmoderated comments or suchlike, if you do you are underestimating the likelihood that ordinary citizens become rabid judgemental assholes when they hit the internet.
What are your top five blogging site picks and why?
1. The Zennist http://zennist.typepad.com - clear, uncluttered insight 2. Linda's Yoga Journey - http://lindasyoga.blogspot.com/ - my friend's blog, such an interesting journey 3. Nadine Fawell - http://nadinefawell.wordpress.com/blog-posts/ - another interesting yoga blog 4. Coffee, cigarettes and conversation - http://ida-thomasdotter.blogspot.com/ - I really like Ida's open conversation style posts on life 5. Scarlet A - http://amymilam.blogspot.com/ - a bit sporadic but again love her writing style
Have you met anyone offline as a result of your blog?
Met loads of people through the internet (mostly yoga people from yoga forums) but none through my blogs directly.
What kind of person should follow your blog?
I guess anyone who likes my writing and wants to engage socially - preferably patient people who will forgive my tendency to err as I try to explore and evolve as a writer, yoga student and (alleged) human being. And very much hoping for free open-minded thinkers...
