What is the name of your Blog?Voice of the American Shift Worker
What is your name?
Mike Lovelace

Arkansas, USA
What is your current age or age range?
30-40
Please describe your blog
My blog deals with life in America as an average, middle/lower class worker. I discuss issues in the work place, give opinions on problems in America affecting regular people, and I even have some tips on how to get and keep a job.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I'm trying to help the "average joe" survive the daily grind. Our lives revolve around work, and I'm striving to give people an outlet and let them have their voices heard about the frustrations of the working class.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use WordPress because there isn't a lot of coding involved, plus it's more professional looking than say, Blogger.
What do you blog the most about?
I'm pretty opinionated, so any current issue that affects the middle/lower class worker usually becomes a post on my blog. Lately, it's been the fact that senior citizens shouldn't have to work and should be able to enjoy life, but can't due to Social Security wages being so low.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Blogs with English titles and the post is written in another language. Spam blogs. Blogs that revolve around how much money people are making.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Use spell check. Use correct grammar. Show your true opinions--don't be influenced. Write like you're talking to your reader face to face. Keep ads to a minimum--and never use pop-ups.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I wouldn't "blog about blogging". There are already too many blogs like that out there.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
I didn't start for the money. It's a good thing too, because I'm not making much.
How long have you been blogging?
About 4 months.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
If I'm posting that day, about 4 hours on the post and another 2 on site promotion.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
no
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
I use Digg, but I don't like it very much. Unless you're one of the "cool kids", it doesn't matter what you Digg, you'll only end up with a handful of views.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
I do use Stumble, but just for Alexa ranking purposes. The traffic I get doesn't contribute to the site very much. I compare Stumble to using a traffic exchange. Worthless hits.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
I use Entrecard and LinkReferral, because the bloggers actually read what I write and the EntreCard bloggers are extremely helpful to newbies.
If you could post a blog on any blog in the world, which one would it be and why?
I'd post on John Chow's blog, just because my posts would be seen by thousands, and I'd really get the message out there.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
If you want good Google PR, don't use programs like Pay Per Post or any other sponsored writing programs. Google will send you to the bottom of the pile, quick.
What are your top five blogging site picks and why?
EntreCard.com--friendly bloggers, helpful blogcatalog.com--again, friendly bloggers linkreferral.com--good targeted traffic, people review your site scratchback.com--it's a neat idea, getting tipped for your posts qassia.com--very innovative resource: an "information engine"
