I blog about herbs. How you grow them. How you keep them happy. How you use them as remedies, in cooking, in crafts, in decorating, in aromatherapy. Herbs make me happy, writing about them makes me happy too.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I think herbs have a broad appeal. They are about more than gardening, or cooking, or remedies. I think they speak to the romance of the past, and to the sense memories women have developed from generations of using herbs to make their lives more abundant.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I'm not sure I understand the question. I use Blogger because it's easy.
What do you blog the most about?
My topic vary widely. I track the search engine queries to my blog, and if someone's looking for an answer that interest me, then I write about it. Recent topics have included recipes for four thieves vinegar (with an explanation about its history), making ginger beer, growing lavender indoors, lavender quotes from literature, herbs used in breast augmentation, tips on propagating aloe vera. You get the idea.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
I hate slamming. If you don't have something nice . . . .
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1)Learn to write clearly. 2)Start with a strong lead, and get to the point quickly. 3)Get in the habit of writing every day, even if you don't post every day. The more you write, the better you get at it. 4)Blog writing isn't essay writing, so learn to mix it up a little bit. 5)If you're in it for the long haul, respect your readers. If all you can think to write is that you're tired and don't have to much time to post today, then do everyone a favor and skip it.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I don't know that there is aything in my topic that I'd avoid. I think that it's the perspective you bring to the topic that's important. Difficult subject matter should be handled, but it should be approached responsibly.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
I love my topic, and I love to write. Money gives me the luxury of being able to write more. I need to get the word out there. Please come take a look at my site and sign up for a feed.
