Please describe your blog

mashKULTURE.net provides daily updates on design, fashion, street culture, art, sneakers, music, and much much more.

Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?

It first started off as a hobby just showcasing my interests, and what I thought was cool. After a while, it started getting a lot of attention and a large readership. It has expanded since 2006 to become a blog network consisting of three separate blogs, and has turned into a full-time job.

What blogging platform do you do and why?

Wordpress. It's really easy and convenient.

What do you blog the most about?

Everything and anything that peaks my attention. Could be dope sneakers, a new music video, an upcoming art exhibit, an interesting photograph, a scantily clad woman, etc...

What kind of blogs make you angry?

Ones that just copy-paste from other blogs.

1. Be original (don't just copy what you see on other blogs) 2. Be passionate 3. Make it personal 4. Update regularly 5.

What are some things you would NEVER blog about?

A new Bette Midler movie, a new Barbara Streisand album, inflation,

Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?

No.

How long have you been blogging?

3 years.

About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?

Eight to twelve.

Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?

500+ including 150+ non-RSS sites.

Do you use Digg, and why or why not?

No.

Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?

No.

What promotional techniques work best for you and why?

Nothing much really. The occasional banner swap, but that's about it.

What are your top five blogging site picks and why?

I try to keep from picking sites to regularly find content. I try to switch it up as much as possible, and make my content unique.

Have you met anyone offline as a result of your blog?

Yes, this is probably the most rewarding aspect of starting the blog. I've met a bunch of cool people, and several relationships have grown out of meeting these people, who I never would've have got a chance to connect with had I not started the blog.
