My two most recent blogs have a dual purpose. I made them for my brother-in-law and sister to promote their recently completed books. Blogs are great adjuncts to a website for SEO purposes, but the website doesn't provide an easy to use format for someone to communicate with others or to post daily observations.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I have many blogs. Most are for Search Engine Optimization and advertising purposes.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
Wordpress is the main platform I use. It's easy to install and I feel like I have more control over this than if I use Blogger. There are many new places to try for blogs now ...even Squidoo which is like a single page blog. Too many options really to use them all!
What do you blog the most about?
When I am promoting a particular affiliate product, I will set up a blog related to whatever niche the product fits into. The same thing could be done using a forum, but blogs are much easier to manage.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
Blogs that only consist of rss feeds are very offputting. I prefer a personal conversational touch.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
-Learn how to find and use pluggins. -Update before you customize. -Change the graphics to make the blog yours. -Go to Google Webmaster tools and set up an account there for all your sites and blogs. -Don't forget to backup your database often.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
sex or gambling
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
Can anyone ever make enough money? Of course not! My first blog was for the purpose of making money. Now I use them in other ways...but my ultimate goal is always to make money.

since 1998 or sometime around there.

Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
I feed about 10 to MyYahoo page and read them daily. Most are my own blogs and that's where I look first to see all in one place if there have been any comments I should know about.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
I have only recently gotten into Digg. Since I'm new to it, I don't have much there yet.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
I just got Stumbleupon last week and love it. Some of the sites I have Stumbled are astounding and I've gotten stuck browsing much too long. Another new one I just got is Clipmarks. I will be exploring Twitter next.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
These social bookmarking sites seem on fire right now for getting new blogs noticed by the search engines. Before this it was articles submitted to article directories...but these are mainly used for websites and not particularly for blogs.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Abandoned blogs. What do you do with them? I have a couple of them on Blogger that I have not visited in months... and I actually feel guilty for abandoning those children.
