Please describe your blog
My blog has evolved from a random stream of consciousness mess into a blog dedicated to my love of cooking. I figured if I was putting the time into blogging I might as well do it about something I really loved doing.
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I think it is fun to share my mistakes, successes, and misconceptions. I love reading blogs where people are exploring something new or in a new way and share their trials, errors, and successes. It is something that a lot of people can relate to.
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use blogger because it was the easiest one to find and use a few years ago when I started it. I stayed because I have been there for so long.
What do you blog the most about?
Now I am blogging mostly about learning the classic techniques of cooking. I have been winging it up until now and I have been doing a lot wrong. I have a lot of unlearning to do.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
I detest those blogs that are obvious shills for "pharmaceutical" supplies or that just link you into a million dead ends. I also hate those full page ads in between pages. There is nothing interesting enough in the blogosphere to make me deal with those.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
1)Write what you love. 2)Update everyday even if it is just a sentence or a link. It maintains good habits 3)Read other blogs to get some perspective 4)Don't be afraid to talk about blogging. It opens up interesting conversations with people in real life 5)Don't forget that real life is out there.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
Wow, I never really thought about that. I guess technically nothing would be out of bounds in the right context but I do try to maintain some modicum of decorum.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
I didn't, but if a book deal happens to come my way I wouldn't say no. Seriously though I haven't made squat and I don't really care. If I were in it for the money I would have quit a long time ago.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging about 3 years now. It started as a way to stay creative every day and not let the tedium of real life drain all the fun away.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
I usually spend about 1/2 hour on average.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
I track a whole ton of feeds which I have categorized depending on if it is a friend, food (seperated into vegetarian, meat oriented, desserts, drinks, you get the idea) blog, or a bunch of other random characteristics.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
I love Stumbleupon. I have found some fun ways to waste time there. I
