Please describe your blog
Science meets shopping in an all new blog dedicated towards finding the right product at the right price. Employing ingenious solutions to solve everyday problems!
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
I want to provide consumers with a wealth of information on certain products and finding uncommon solutions to the problems they encounter every day. Oftentimes if I have a question that I can't find an answer to, I'll conduct an experiment and post the results on the blog.
What blogging platform do you use and why?
Wordpress. I've been using it ever since its first public release. The fact remains that it's a widely-used blogging platform, and for good reason. If you ever have an issue with it, you'll have no problem finding a hundred and one people jumping to give you an answer.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
The fact remains that ANYONE can blog, which can be, in a sense unfortunate. There are people out there who use blogging as a vessel of spreading hatred and bigoted views. Any kind of blog that promotes racism or other forms of intolerance really get under my skin.
Give five of your best blogging tips.
The first tip I'd have to give is to be literate. People won't read your blog if you can't spell or even form a sentence. Secondly, good content is a must. Without good content there's really no hope for your blog.g My third tip would have to be to listen to your readers. The success of your blog depends entirely on their continued readership. Next, be sure to write ahead. Wordpress and other blogging platforms have a nifty little feature that allows you to schedule future posts... use it! This way, days that you're in a writing mood will make up for those lazy days you will inevitably have, providing your readers with new content almost every day. And lastly, the most obvious tip of all, promote. You should spend as much time promoting your blog as you spend researching and writing for your blog. Be sure to never underestimate the power of word-of-mouth and save advertising $$ where you can.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
I can honestly say I'm a very open person and there isn't much I WOULDN'T blog about. Probably the only thing I'd be against posting would be something insensitive and judgemental that would offend someone immensely.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
I started blogging in order to earn some extra cash, but it quickly turned into a hobby I enjoyed. I worried less and less about earning money and more about improving my content. I never really earned a lot of money with my blogs, mainly because it wasn't high up in my list of priorities once I really got into blogging.
How long have you been blogging?
I've been blogging for almost 5 years now.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
About two hours of each day are spent writing future entries and researching for my current blog, TinkerBot.
