What is the name of your Blog?Hi. It's "The Artist-in-training: An Illustrated Blog of An Artist's Artsy Fartsy Endeavors.
What is your name?
Pao Mateo
Where are you from? (include country, state and/or city)
Philippines, NCR
What is your current age or age range?
I'm twenteen-one turning twelve :)
Please describe your blog
It's a cozy home to my daily doodles, crafts and also my adventure rants and raves as a back sliding artist rediscovering the joys of art after a year of dormancy (artistically speaking).
Describe the main purpose of your blogging, what are you trying to accomplish?
It's to expose my art to an online audience, sharing my doodles and my creative processes and hopefully share good art tips I learned I picked up along the way.
I also hope to gain new friends around the world through this blog :)
What blogging platform do you do and why?
I use Blogspot because it's blooper-proof. It's very easy to use, and I love that I can customize my blog layout to my liking.
What do you blog the most about?
I mostly blog about my little daily doodles and where I got the inspiration from.
What kind of blogs make you angry?
That's easily the blogs that bash celebrities and other people. I hate that they make fun of other people's imperfections as if they haven't flaws themselves! Sure, they are funny but they are hurting a lot of people in the process...
Give five of your best blogging tips.
Oh gosh. I think I'm still a beginner myself when it comes to blogging. But I'll give this a try: a blogger should blog about what he/she is passionate about.
What are some things you would NEVER blog about?
Hmm, immoral ones, things that would offend other people.
Did you start blogging for the purpose of making money and if so, are you making enough money?
Nope. But I hope to sell my artworks to interested buyers through my blog though.
How long have you been blogging?
Since March 2007. I haven't taken it seriously at first but now that I can fully appreciate the art of blogging, I strive to do my best to take my blog up a notch.
I'm currently in the process of re-editing my posts and brainstorming about nice things to write about. I'm also teaching myself how to write more fluently and eloquently. I hope by next month I can have a blog that I can be proud of.
About how many hours per day do you spend blogging?
I think 30 minutes to two hours a day? Depending on what I'm talking about.
Do you track RSS feeds and if so, how many do you usually track daily?
I use Atom feeds and Feedburner. I track about 10 blogs at most. I am trying to learn blogging from the blogs I subscribe to. Hopefully I can blog like them. They can make the ordinary things in their life magical. Ahhh the wonders of creative writing and photographyyyy.
Do you use Digg, and why or why not?
Nope, as I am not really familiar with it.
Do you use Stumbleupon, and why or why not?
Nope.
What promotional techniques work best for you and why?
Participating in Blogcatalog is the only effective promotional technique I used so far. I plan to have flickrblogs and join art groups in the future when I feel more confident of my work.
What mistakes have you made that you could warn others about?
Hmm, I think putting up a blog about something you are trying to like just so I could have an audience. I suggest people to write whatever you are confident you know about rather than over concentrating on what you think other people want. That will terribly burn you out. If you keep blogging about your own thin,g eventually people with the same interests as yours will find you or at least persuade an audience to consider liking what you like.
